Les Nouveautés: Part I
With the ring of the New Year, comes new things. As I get older, I am finding myself drawn to different things and becoming much more particular in what I purchase. This part of the blog post will focus on little knick knacks while Part II will be featuring bigger items.
Both of these items were bought at markets, something I really love about Toronto. The Robot cup is from a Montreal Vendor named Wai-Yant Li who makes amazing pottery company, Creations Li. This cup is now located on my dresser and houses my makeup brushes. I LOVE IT. The pin is by an illustrator named Jackie Lee. She creates prints, pins, shirts...you name it.
These are just a few of the talented artists that are following their passions. That sounds incredibly cheesy, but hey, you gotta love what you do. Something I think we can all surround ourselves by.
Discovered this brand when walking down Queen West with a friend. I'm really impressed with the price and value of these skincare products. The main brand is called Deciem and I can't wait to get more products from the range. The Ordinary: Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 (on the left) is something I use in addition to my serum for hydration boost for my dry skin while the Hylamide: Hydra-Density Mist (on the right) is a spray toner that also help in hydrating the skin. Amazing value for these products as both total for less than $25. Check it out.
I was browsing in Urban Outfitters when I found that they stocked Lime Crime Liquid Lipsticks. I've heard a lot about this brand around the blogsphere and peaked around at the colours to see if I can get something different than what I have in my already extensive collection. 10 minutes of swatching later I came out of UO with Cashmere. I would say if MAC's Stone and Too Faced's Melted Matte in Cool Girl got together, it would make Cashmere, a grey nude that is not as dramatic as Stone. I am loving this colour which has now became a regular in my rotation.
I was almost at the end of my Sleek Eyebrow Kit (featured in this post) when I just really want to try something new. I had hit pan on the Pomade side of my Kit and felt like I needed to dabble in Brow Pencils, something I hadn't tried before. I went for the Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Definer in Medium Brown and have had such an easier time filling in my brows. Once this one is finished, I might try the Brow Wiz just to see what my preferences are in terms of the shape of the pencil since having a smaller nib might just help in being more precise.
Last but not least, is this amazing compact mirror that I got at a shop on Queen East in Riverside called Token. I have been looking for a magnified compact mirror that looks different but isn't cheap looking. I think that the seashell detail, iridescent colour and gold rose etching just makes this a unique piece to have.
Let me know what you think of these pieces and of this first blog post of 2017.
Laterz.
